Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
As a nurse practitioner certified in psychiatry, Gerard Balan believes in providing each patient with holistic, comprehensive care that is effective, efficient, and compassionate. He is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has a special interest and expertise in treating Major Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and narcotic addiction. His experience extends over 10 years as he also has served as an EMT, an outreach coordinator and advocate for the severely mentally ill and intellectually disabled, and a tutor for students with a passion for education.
He believes in a team approach where he collaborates with the patient and other providers to determine a plan that will bring lasting wellness. An avid bicyclist, he also enjoys traveling, cooking, outdoor activities, mixed martial arts, entertaining guests and loved ones, and mentoring through Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Twin Cities. He also serves as frequent guest lecturer and preceptor at St. Catherine’s University and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
